hi!

I’m a culinary editorial professional with over a decade and many, many, many cookbooks’ worth of experience. When I’m not reading about food (or something else), I’m probably thinking about food. Or eating it. Or making it. Or watching someone else make it. But usually I’m reading about it.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to edit cookbooks on everything from ultra-high-end fine dining to ice pops (two things I love equally), with authors running the gamut from celebrities and celebrity chefs to doctors and nutritionists to self-taught bakers and food bloggers breaking into the print-book scene. I bring a sharp editorial eye, clean writing sensibility, and deep understanding of food, cooking, and food culture to all my projects, and whether I’m working on a manuscript developmental edit or a last-gasp final-pages proofread, I always keep the cookbook reader/user at the front of my mind.

On the personal side, I grew up in New York City and rural New Jersey, braved Boston winters for college, and lived in Manhattan for 10 years before leaving the city to (halfway) renovate a vintage Airstream. In between all that, I spent chunks of time visiting other parts of the world and learning how people prepare and enjoy food everywhere from Malaysian Borneo to Manchester. Recently, I relocated to South Florida to pursue my dreams of a year-round tan (just kidding! sunscreen!) and endlessly trolling estate sales for vintage barware (you can read more about that here). I love talking about food and cookbooks (and ice pops and Airstreams and Southeast Asia and vintage glassware), so please don’t be shy about saying hello or dropping by @ivymcfad on Instagram!
